Jeffrey Epstein's Manhattan Mansion Sold For Nearly $51 Million

The New York City mansion owned by Jeffry Epstein has been sold to an undisclosed buyer. Daniel Weiner, a lawyer for the co-executors of Epstein's estate, said the Herbert N. Straus House, located on East 71st Street, sold for nearly $51 million, down from the $88 million asking price.

When authorities raided the 28,000 square-foot mansion as part of an investigation into a sex-trafficking ring of underage girls that Epstein was accused of running, they found a trove of images featuring nude women, including some who were underage.

The money from the sale will be transferred to the Epstein Victims' Compensation Program, which suspended payments in February due to lack of funds. The program, which started up in June, has received over 150 claims and has paid more than $53 million to alleged victims.

Epstein's estate is also finalizing a deal to sell his Palm Beach Island mansion to a developer. While the property was listed for $22 million, the exact terms of the sale have not been released. Once the sale is complete, the developer plans to demolish the property.

Epstein was found dead in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in August 2019 while he was waiting for his federal trial to begin. New York City's chief medical examiner determined that the cause of his death was suicide by hanging.
