Fire destroyed a house on Pono Street in Aiea early Friday morning. Several fire companies responded to the two-alarm fire at about 3 a.m. Three people inside got out, but an 83-year-old man was taken to the hospital in stable condition with burns after trying to save his two pet dogs. The dogs and a bird did not make it out. Four vehicles parked in front of the house were destroyed, as well. Firefighters controlled the fire at 3:30 a.m. and extinguished it at 4:58 a.m. The cause of the fire is being investigated and a damage estimate is not available yet. The Red Cross is assisting the family.
