High Surf Warning As Flossie Draws Near To Hawaii

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Flossie is expected to become a tropical depression Sunday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center.

Swells generated by Flossie will affect portions of the main Hawaiian Islands over the next couple of days, potentially producing dangerous surf conditions, mainly along east and southeast facing shores.

A high-surf warning is in effect as swells from Flossie will cause surf to increase along east-facing shores tonight through Sunday night. Surf will rise to 8 to 12 feet tonight and 10 to 15 feet Sunday.
