City, state and federal officials have their emergency plans in place for the coming storms and they're urging you to also plan ahead. Many residents were heeding the call to prepare early. Monday, Costco, Walmart, Sam's Club and other big box stores were filled with shoppers stocking up on supplies. Remember, you should have supplies for seven days. That means you need one gallon of water per day for each person, as well as food, medications, batteries, flashlights or lanterns, a radio, first-aid kit, then any bedding you may need - like a sleeping bag and pillow, in case you need to evacuate. You should know the location of the Hurricane Evacuation Center near you and wait for announcements of when they will open. And, keep a full tank of gas!
